THE INLET - Western Australia

About the piece

Edition of 30

Each print is produced using the traditional wet process (silver-halide) and the paper is developed and fixed using photographic chemicals. This means that unlike inkjet printing where the ink sits on top of the paper surface and ink colour can alter the reflective properties of the paper, all colour in the photographic print is locked away behind a top layer (like a laminate) and therefore have the same reflectivity.

I also find this technique to be a nice way to connect digitally captured images to the tradition of photography

My paper of choice is Fuji Metallic Pearl.  Embedded pearl-like crystals give this paper a high-gloss reflection, especially in the highlights.  The paper has an extra layer consisting of metal oxide particles.  This means that you can see a change in reflectivity as you move around the print.

Each print is face mounted to UV grade, non-reflective acrylic and sandwiched to a protective backing.  The artwork is then framed, or a recessed mount is added to the back to float on the wall.  I offer a range of handmade framing options.

Print sizes start at 30x45”, 40x60”, 50x75” and custom sizes.  Below are examples of frames with and without liners.  More arrangements are available. Liners are available in black, white, beige.  See FRAMES for more frames and liner options.
